In order to do scientific measurements by a computer, we must have freedom in hardware, in addition to software.
Secondary schools in France uses « EXAO » (Expérimentation assistée par ordinateur = data acquisition by a computer), but hardware and software are not free. A few sellers of hardware sell software too, unusable with other hardware.
Can we free ourselves from this tyranny hardware/software ?
Yes, by programs usable with all measurement devices, by a system of « measurement devices drivers », as office software can be used with all printers, by a system of « printer drivers ».
Mensurasoft system allows us to use all mains devices used in secondary schools in France (Jeulin, Orphy, Eurosmart), and also spectrophotometers, multimeters, scales, pHmeters, Arduino, Expeyes, and others...
Mensurasoft system is usable with Linux and Windows (at least), and allows to program with all programming languages (Basic, C/C++, Pascal, Python, and others).
Do you want to do free measurements ?

Pierre Dieumegard teachs biology, geology and computer science, now in Orléans.
For more than twenty years, he works to make compatible hardware and software for measurements, developing Mensurasoft system (formerly Mesugraf). You can get explanations, software and drivers at
